One of my favorite Amazon’s leadership principles is:
Have Backbone; Disagree and Commit
If you disagree with a decision, challenge it right away. Don’t wait.
Put everything out on the table. This onus is on you.
Unless you do that, it will keep bugging you and you’ll not be able to give your 100%. Get to the core of it.
If you bottle it up, it will show up in uglier ways down the line.
Once you’ve committed to the decision, it is YOUR decision.
Don’t sabotage it just because it was not yours to begin with.
You own it. If things go wrong later (and sometimes they will), you can’t go back and say “I told you so”. You agreed on it.
Now the team trusts you to have their back.
To grow faster, don’t be a passive observer on the sidelines. Go all-in.
