This is something I learnt from one of my mentors a few years back. We used to burn the midnight oil together. There were some days when we weren’t productive. On those off-days, my mentor used to emphasize (while leaving Starbucks at 1am!) that it doesn’t matter that we didn’t get much work done today - what matters more is showing up tomorrow. I’m taking this learning to my grave!
Remember the quote “There is no secret ingredient.” from the movie Kung Fu Panda? Well, I now firmly believe that consistency is THE secret ingredient. It has helped me run a 10k, get at the top of GitHub trending list, and in many other areas of my life.
Fitness is the best example for consistency. You can’t lose weight in one day. You can’t gain weight in one day. It’s a direct outcome of your daily habits. Same for music production. You can’t master it in one day, irrespective of how motivated you are! Things take time; that’s just how it is.
The best part is that consistency brings results, which gives you the confidence and motivation to keep going. See you in the arena.
