Outcomes are dependent on your effort (which is under your control) and a significant amount of luck (out of your control).
Outcome = Effort (70%) + Luck (30%)
Luck behaves like a sine wave. It goes up and down. To be ready to capitalize on it when it’s in your favor, keep these 3 things in mind:
- Accept the role of luck.
Unless you really accept that luck has played a part in where you are right now, you’ll never fully appreciate the role of luck in your future endeavors. (But efforts still play the major part.)
- Luck is independent of your effort.
You can put in a lot of effort and luck might not be on your side. Don’t be hard on yourself. You might have put in less effort but luck can be in your favor at that time. Both the above conditions are less likely to convert into an outcome.
- Be ready to capitalize on peak luck.
Increase your surface area of luck. Taking more shots at your goal(s) will result in a spectrum of luck. It’ll not always be good. But it’ll not always be bad as well. It’ll be cyclical in nature. The more shots you take, the more you’ll see lady luck standing by your side. The best thing you can do is give your best at that time and ride your luck wave.
