One advice I give my juniors is to find someone who is consistent or is aiming to be, irrespective of whether the other person knows more or less than you.
They should have a growth mindset.
On the graph of learnings (Y-axis) vs time (X-axis), it almost doesn’t matter how much you already know (Y-intercept). What matters is your rate of learning new things (slope).
Your rate of learning (slope) will always surpass someone else’s accumulated knowledge (intercept) in the long run.
When I joined college, I met people who had studied OOPs concepts in their schools. There were a lot of other things as well which I didn’t know about. I was overwhelmed! Slowly, I started catching up and by the end of college, I became a jack of all trades and even master of some. I received the “Wikipedia of Coding” title at my college farewell. 😉
Consistency is the key. 🔑
