Last month, I got a ton of messages from folks who have been laid off from their workplaces.
Understand that the company is not running a charity. It’s a business. Getting a salary means someone is investing in your time with an expectation that you’ll make them more money. In case they can’t justify the return-on-investment, it doesn’t make sense to continue the relationship and burn money.
I know it’s hard, but try not to take it personally.
Free market is driven by supply and demand.
If more people can do what you can (more supply), your skills have less value. If more people want what you can do (more demand), your skills have more value. Note that there’s no absolute value of skills. It’s all relative!
