At Roc8 Careers, we have been a key advocate of hiring based on proof of work. The democratization of access to opportunities has already begun and I’m sure more players will pop up soon making a level-playing field for everyone.
Now we’re experimenting with something bigger: culture fit based hiring. This is something I wish existed when I started my professional journey. I’ll be honest: I’ve not faced the access problem personally, but the culture problem is very close to my heart.
Once you have a job, you want to belong. You want to be accepted for your working style and not just typecasted into a box. You want to move up in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. You might love one team and be miserable in another. But it doesn’t say anything about you. It’s a matter of knowing yourself more and figuring out the best fit for you.
